I developed caleb-perkins.com as a portfolio for a career in video game development. Using the Materialis theme and several WordPress plugins, I created a website where you could view and play my games. The built-in blogging capability allowed me to document the development progress of my largest project — a mobile visual novel — through its conclusion in 2020. As the first public website I created, I learned a lot of lessons that help me with the websites I currently maintain.

Similar to this website, my goal with caleb-perkins.com was to efficiently display a large amount of projects and gameplay. The clean Materialis theme helped draw focus to the game visuals without unnecessary distraction. WordPress’s freedom to add plugins and edit HTML also allowed me to host WebGL-based games directly on the site, letting visitors play my games without having to download anything.
